Nutcracker 2015
We are very excited to announce that Kids Dance will be performing our very first Nutcracker this year!
It seems silly to be thinking about Christmas, however we actually have to start working on choreography now so the dancers feel ready by December. Time will go fast, and once the fall season starts we will have very limited time to rehearse.
**All dancers ages 5 and older can participate!**
If your child is interested in being a part of this production, it will be quite the commitment for them (and you, unfortunately!) The end result will be fabulous and rewarding, but it will come with a price of hard work, dedication, and seeing it through from beginning to end. If your family has an extremely busy schedule, or if your dancer is involved in several different activities, this may not be something they’ll want to commit to this year.
We realize it’s inevitable that dancers will have to miss rehearsal at one point in time or another. This is completely understandable, however if a student is frequently absent there’s a good chance they may not be able to perform in the production.
We can give you a rough idea of what the rehearsal schedule looks like, although the exact days and times can’t be confirmed until we know the particular dance(s) your child will be performing in. The final schedule will be out at the end of May to mid-June.
Rehearsals will go through the month of July beginning on the 6th and ending on the 30th. For planning purposes, you will need to keep Monday through Thursday from about 4:00-7:30 open. Dancers will NOT be scheduled all of these days for the whole 3 ½ hour time frame. These are just the days & times we will be rehearsing. Once we know our participants and assign them to their dancing part(s) we can give you the exact days and times. More than likely your child will be coming twice a week for a couple hours. (Older students who have solo parts can expect to have longer rehearsal times.)
Although dancers will be learning the bulk of choreography in July, we will still need to rehearse and clean the dances up during the months leading up to the performance.
Additional rehearsals are as follows and will be held on Saturday afternoons from 1:00-3:00:

Please keep in mind that we may or may not need all these rehearsals. We would rather have too many scheduled rather than not enough. We will cancel any rehearsals that aren’t needed.
As you can see, this is a huge commitment. Please talk with your child and consider it carefully before committing as fees are nonrefundable.
The total cost to participate is $200 per student. This includes all rehearsals (roughly 20 hours), beautiful, professional costumes for dancers to borrow, and the rental of the school for the dress rehearsal. You are more than welcome to pay in smaller increments if you’d like. A deposit of $80 is due at the time of registration.
